Samsung adds to its Windows Phone series: Omnia M...

Samsung had announced the coming of its next Windows Phone line-up, the Samsung Focus 2, releasing in US on 20th of this month. But the company is keen to share some love with other markets too, and has announced another new Windows Phone to the Omnia series, the Omnia M.

Don’t get too excited though – this isn’t a new flagship by any means. Although there’s a 4.0” Super AMOLED display, the rest of the specs are decidedly low-end. The device includes a miserly 4GB of storage and a meagre 384MB of RAM. There’s also a 1GHz processor of unspecified origin, along with a 5MP rear camera with LED flash, and a VGA front-facing cam, for use with services such as Skype, Tango or Samsung’s own ChatON service.

Samsung gave excuses for its feeble storage by claiming that SkyDrive offers 25GB of free cloud storage to extend that capacity – but of course, that’s no longer possible, as Microsoft now offers just 7GB to new SkyDrive users.
The Omnia M will first launch in Europe, but will be made available in “other regions” later. But if you were hoping for a new high-end Omnia, it looks like you’ll probably have to wait for one of the two new devices that Samsung is expected to launch with Windows Phone 8 later this year.
