The technology of USB is the most unseen but yet omnipresent & integral part of our lives.Who can think of a life without USB cables which are used for transfering songs to connecting keyboards.So,lets know something interesting about the enigmatic yet unknown USB that u use.

Historic Background
Large circle is left end of horizontal line. The line forks into three branches ending in circle, triangle and square symbols.
USB (Universal Serial Bus) is an industry standard developed in the mid-1990s that defines the cables, connectors and protocols used in a bus for connection, communication and power supply
between computers and electronic devices.
A group of seven companies began development on USB in 1994: Compaq, DEC, IBM, Intel, Microsoft,
NEC and Nortel.
The first pre-release version of USB i.e. USB 0.7: Released in November 1994.

The ancient USB 1.0
USB 1.0: Released in January 1996.Specified data rates of 1.5 Mbit/s.
USB 1.1: Released in August 1998.
Fixed problems identified in 1.0, mostly relating to hubs. Earliest revision to be widely adopted..

USB 2.0
Its the most commonly used USB in India.Well,u have to admit india is not so up to date. USB 2.0 was released in 2000.
Added higher maximum bandwidth of 480 Mbit/s.

The latest & fastest USB 3.0
USB 3.0 was released in November 2008. The standard specifies a maximum transmission speed of up to 5 Gbit/s (640 MB/s), which is over 10 times faster than USB 2.0
